Ahead of the Wrong’uns party at The Imaginarium this Saturday – 13/01/24 – we caught up with resident and co-founder Mehlor to find out more about the event and their debut release as a label…
Imaginarium: Your party at The Imaginarium marks the launch of your debut EP. Tell us about the release…
Mehlor: Our debut Wrong’uns record started as a small idea at some after party with friends who all shared the love for records and partying. Wrong’uns debut release brings 4 particularly incorrect individuals by the names of Joejoemojo, Oward, Rewi De Kooney and myself (Mehlor) who each bring their own flavour to the table. We’ve seen some serious support in the form of Leeds legend Tristan Da Cunha, Samuel Deep, Mella Dee and Saiorse playing the tracks on a regular basis and we’re excited to see what else unfold once the record hits shelves next week.
Imaginarium: Excellent line up for this event, and definitely one for the Leeds heads. Give us some background on the DJs…
Mehlor: For this event we invite Joejoemojo and Rewi De Kooney from the EP to show us their selections. We also invited local legends Le Louche, B6 & Phattskank (Fifty) who are guaranteed party starters.
Imaginarium: Living, partying, and getting up to no good in Leeds, it’s been impossible to miss your stickers, and we’re loving the artwork. Who’s the artist you’re working with?
Mehlor: The Wrong’uns art comes from the vision of our talented creative Prith @prithandpen – make sure to check her instagram as her work is diverse and without boundaries.
Imaginarium: Why did you choose The Imaginarium as the venue for your night?
Mehlor: We chose The Imaginarium for the simple fact is has acted as our second home for the last year or so, great sound system and even better vibes. We have enjoyed so many good nights on the dancefloor within such a short period of time here it only made sense to launch our parties here.
Imaginarium: You’re one of our first events of 2024. Any future plans you’d like to share with us?
Mehlor: Future plans; we will start to focus on the next few records and parties with a few surprises up our sleeves so make sure you keep up to date on our instagram @wrong_uns_ BOOM.
