Featured Artist – Nigel Rogers

As a social enterprise focusing on the arts, The Imaginarium aims to promote creative work in a variety of media, and our first featured artist covers much ground in his output…

Many of you will know Nigel through his alias, Perseus Traxx and have seen his live sets and heard his records. This is just one of the monikers you’ll find his music under.  He is also Northern Powerhouse (his excellent project with Weapons of Desire‘s Alex Handley), Nite Vision (Nigel and Craig Stainton), Orpheus, Robokid, John Titor, N & N Tracks, Sir Leon Greg, Ellis De Haviland, Scandalous Arthur, and Operator Tracey.

You’ll find some of this music if you come in for a dig at Plant & Deck

I’ve known Nigel for a few years now, and I’m not actually sure when he sleeps. A true embodiment of the DIY ethic, his projects have ranged from screen printed t-shirts to home-brewed ginger beer. The video for Northern Powerhouse – Need Money For Bread shows the artists screen printing the labels for the track they have just had pressed.

I remember walking through BeatHerder in 2019, and being stopped by someone who recognised that I was wearing a ‘Nigel Rogers T-Shirt’. There are a multitude of prints, some featuring his own designs (one, for example, for an imaginary rave in 1989), some recreations of record sleeves, or technical diagrams of machines. You’ll find a fair few of these at our Imaginarium, priced at a very reasonable £20 for a tee and £30 for a long sleeve.

Nigel will coming over for some gigs in early 2023. He’s on the line up for Signed Up, along with Timothy J. Fairplay, Auto Sound City, Damo B and Mick Clarke. He’ll also be joining us for a live set at an in-house event March. Keep an eye on this site and our socials to find out more…
